William Sherman Obituary

William Charles Sherman, age 47, of Granite City, IL, formerly of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Will was born in Alton, IL, on September 3, 1976, the son of the late Elonza Sherman, Sr. & Mabel (Washington) Sherman. Will married Kimberly D. (Williams) Sherman on November 23, 2021, in Las Vegas, NV. Besides his wife, Will is survived by a brother, Elonza “June” Sherman, Jr., of Edwardsville, IL; and aunts, nieces, cousins, and numerous friends. Besides his parents, Will was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Sherman. Will was a Chef working as the lead Line cook at St. Clair country club in Belleville IL. Will received his culinary training in the United States Army, where he served 4 years in Germany. He was a graduate of Edwardsville High School class of 1994. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and enjoyed movies, especially anything Marvel. Being a Chef, he was a big foodie and enjoyed traveling. Most of all he loved his family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, at 11:00 am at Mt. Joy Baptist Church in Edwardsville with Rev. Steve Jackson presiding. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.
