Wendell Browning

Wendell "Wimp" Browning, age 82, of Edwardsville died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Wendell retired from Illinois Power as a supervisor in 1984. Wendell served in the U.S. Army during WWII and served on the USS Bennington. He also was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals. Wendell is survived by a son Benjamin Browning of Memphis, Tn.; a daughter Amy McBride of Edwardsille; Four grandchildren: Madeline & Mason McBride, Benjamin and Chelsey Browning; Two sisters, Betty Heinz and Shirley (Carl) Orman all of Edwardsville. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty P. (Piper) Browning. Friends may call from 10 am until service time at 11 am Saturday, April 24th. at Weber Funeral Home. After cremations his ashes will be interred at Forever Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association.
