Walter Ellis

Walter Ellis, age 90, of Edwardsville, IL, died January 10, 2004, at his home in Edwardsville, IL. Visitation 10 until 11 AM Saturday, January 17th at Church of God In Christ Congregational. Funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, Jan. 17th, at Church of God In Christ in Edwardsville, IL. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL. Mr. Ellis worked for US Radiator Corporation, Hyman Michaels in East Alton, & Edwardsville School District #7. He was a member of the Church of God In Christ, Congregational in Edwardsville, whre he was a Deacon under the leadership of Bishop Ray Lindsey, Elder Fred Willis, Elder Jesse Jackson, and Elder Jack Townsend, Pastor. Survivors include a son Charles "Chip" Ellis of Edwardsville. Five daughters: Minnie Lindsey of Est. St. Louis, Lucille (Paul) Bargiel of Collinsville, Margaret Lee (Lawrence) Glasper of St. Louis, Dorothy Mae Ellis (Calvin Lott) of Edwardsville, and Carrie Ann Ellis of Edwardville. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great grand, and five great great. One brother Ben Ellis of Est. St. Louis. Three sisters: Clara Gholston of Chicago, Mary Ida Richards and Sal Tucker both of Wisconsin. He was preceded by his wife Minnie, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
