Vernon ALonzo Fox, age 78, of Edwardsville, IL, died December 22, 2002, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL. Visitation was from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, December 26th, at the funeral home. Funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, December 27th, at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. Burial was at Forever Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL. Mr. Fox was born in Victor, West Virginia. He retired from the US Army as a Chief Warrant Officer having served in WWII and Korea. Mr. Fox was a recipient of the Purple Heart & Bronze Star. He also received the American Campaign Medal , European-African-MiddleEastern Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Infantry Badge and Good Conduct Medal. Following his Military retirement Vernon worked for the Monsanto Chemical Co. for 18 years retiring in 1983. He is survived by his wife Mary (Wenrich) Fox, a son Vernon S. Fox and a daughter Toni Irish. Six Grandchildren. Seven Great Grandchildren. One brother John H. Fox. He was preceded in death by a brother William Fox
