(Simmermaker) Hartley on April 28, 1979.  Besides his wife of 46 years, Terry is survived by his son, Nate Hartley & wife Andrea, of Dorsey, IL; a daughter, Tara Robertson & husband Drew, of Dorsey, IL; 5 grandchildren, Hank Hartley, Tessa Hartley, Cy Hartley, Elena Robertson, & Wyatt Robertson; sister, Connie Sloan & husband Don, of Fishers, IN; a brother-in-law, Jim Bain, of Edwardsville, IL; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Besides his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Hartley & his wife Linda; two sisters, Vicki Bain, and Lynita Hamby; brother-in-law, Fred Bender; and a nephew, Paul Bender.

Terry was a lifelong sports enthusiast, beginning at the early age of 13 when he coordinated a golf league for his peers. He was a graduate of Edwardsville High School, class of 1973. All of high school, he played football, basketball, baseball and track and lettered in all of them. He pursued further education by attending Culver-Stockton College on a Football Scholarship in 1973. Terry’s passion for sports continued by playing in the Men’s fast-pitch softball league for most of his 20’s and 30’s; captaining the Weber Funeral Home golf team at the American Legion for over 30 years, winning 13 championships; and coordinated yearly golf tournaments for his friends for over 20 years. He loved bringing people together to enjoy the love of the game. Terry also had a love for music and dancing, never hesitating to grab a family member or friend to spin around the dance floor.

Terry was a board member for Edwardsville-Glen Carbon Little League association (E.G.C.L.L.A) and served as umpire-in-chief for over 30 years. He had a passion for coaching and teaching the fundamentals of baseball. He began dating his wife of 46 years after umpiring her softball game in 1977. He enjoyed coaching his children and grandchildren’s baseball teams over the years as well.
