Stephen Heejong Kim, DDS, age 42 of Edwardsville, Illinois died suddenly at 3:00 pm Friday, April 16, 2004 at St John's Medical Center in St. Louis. Stephen was born in Seoul, South Korea on April 28, 1961, the son of the late In Up Kim and Myung Joo Kim who surivives in Los Angeles, Ca. In 1973, Stpehen's family emigrated to the United States, settling in Los Angeles, his father worked as an architect and started a construction company; his mother Myung established the family's home; and, at age 12, Stephen entered the seventh grade. Stephen excelled academically. He graduated with honors from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, Ca. in 1979; Pomona College, Pomona, Ca. in 1983; and Northwestern University School of Dentistry, Chicago, Il. in 1988. In 1990, Stephen relocated to St. Louis, Mo., and acquired a dental practice in Cahokia, Il. His practice was well respected and thrived for over fourteen years. Stephen loved his family, travel, and the outdoors. His interst included hiking, bicycling, tennis, and golf. He also took every opportunity to see the Rams, Cardinals, and Blues play. Most of all, Stephen will be missed for his generosity, intelligence, and sense of humor. He was a dedicated husband and father. Stephen is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Arnold) Kim; his daughter Emily 13; his son Ethan 11 months; and his stepson Brent 13. Stephen is also survived by his sister Ann Song of Los Angeles, Ca. Visitation will be from 10 am until 3 pm Tuesday, April 10, 2004 at Weber Funeral Home where services will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday.
