Shankeleia Roberson Obituary

Shankeleia Stashaun Roberson: Strength, sustainability, and resilience. She made faith feel like fun, love feel like home, and life feel like a good song.

Shankeleia S. Roberson, age 44, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at her home on Friday, May 30, 2025. Born April 11, 1981, in Mobile, Alabama, Shankeleia was a woman who made a lasting impression everywhere she went. Always polished, and eloquently glowing, she gifted the world with her signature touch of sparkle, that announced her presence humbly, but beautifully BOLD. Whatever life handed her, she met it with quiet determination and undeniable grace. She lived with pride, style, and heart and she made life brighter for everyone lucky enough to be in her orbit.

Shankeleia earned her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in Biology. She explored this field; however, she spent most of her adult life both informally and formally as a caretaker, in service to others and in the countless ways she showed up for her loved ones. She was thoughtful, loyal, and deeply rooted in family. She loved BIG moments, concerts that shook the room, dancing that went late into the night, and games that didn’t always match, yet always made people laugh. Her style was flawless: full face, fresh hair, nails done, and shoes that sparkled. She had a passion for shopping, finding the best deals, and spoiling the people she loved. She snapped photos wherever she went, making sure memories stuck, and she was the unofficial family historian. Beauty wasn’t something she chased, it was something she carried.  Her nieces and nephews knew her as the auntie (“Ti Ti”) who brought the fun, the music, lots of snacks, and life lessons, woven into faith, laughter, and praise.  She didn’t just talk about joy, she created it. Her love for family and celebration ran deep.

Shankeleia is survived by her parents, Caldwell and Quinetta (King) Roberson Jr; her sister, LaTasha Roberson-Guifarro and Jose Guifarro, of Edwardsville; her brother, Quinten D. Roberson, of Newport News, VA; and her nieces and nephews: Quinten M. Roberson, Lucas Guifarro, Andrew Roberson, Desiree Guifarro, and Carlee Guifarro. She also leaves behind a loving circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who cherished her.

A visitation will be held on June 7, 2025, from 11-1 pm at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home (304 N. Main St. Edwardsville, IL) with the Celebration of Life to follow at 1pm.
