Sandra Kay Coverdell

Sandra Kay Coverdell, age 71, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away at her residence on July 28, 2025.  Sandy was born on September 24, 1953, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Joann (Powell) & the late Reinhard Schmidt Jr.  Besides her mother, Sandy is survived by her daughter, Apryl Sarikcioglu & husband Cengiz, of Mission Viejo, CA; three grandchildren, Bri Sarikcioglu, of Santa Monica, CA, Hanah Sarikcioglu, of Bethalto, IL, Eren Sarikcioglu, of Mission Veijo, CA; three siblings, Bruce Schmidt & wife Dawn, of Edwardsville, IL, Sharon Capstick & husband Tom, of Alhambra, IL, and Lisa Lange & fiancé Richard Link, of Edwardsville, Il; several nieces & nephews; and great nieces & nephews.  Besides her father, Sandy was preceded in death by a son, Neil Coverdell, and a brother, James Schmidt and special friend Richard Kinder.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville with Pastor Kent Schuette presiding.  Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville.
