Robert A. Rizzi, Sr., age 63, of Sunrise Beach, Mo. formerly Glen Carbon, IL, died August 31, 2003, at his home in Sunrise Beach. Visitation 3 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd, at the funeral home. Funeral services at 10 AM on Thurs. September 4th, at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL. Robert Anthony Rizzi, Sr. served as Chief of Police for the Village of Glen Carbon, IL from 1990 until he retired in 1998. Previously he retired from the Madison County Sheriff's Department where he worked for 25 years. He retired as Captain-Patrol Commander with the Sheriff's deparment. Robert was active in Southern Illinois Police Chief's Association, Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. He also was active in the Madison Masonic Lodge #560, Scottish Rite Bodies, Alton York Rite Bodies, Ainad Shrine Temple, Royal Order of Jesters Court #86, Kachina Club, Old National Trail Shrine Club, Hillbilly Clan #39, Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and the Zach Wheat American Legion Post #624. He was one of the co-founders of Vanzo's New Years Day fundraiser for Shriner's Children's Hospital. He served in the US Army 537th MP Co. Survivors include his Wife Suzann (Hartnagel) Rizzi. A son Robert A.(wife DeAnn) Rizzi, Jr. of Troy, Il. Two step-sons Robie Haring of Moro & Mark Haring of Edwardsville, Il. A granddaughter Brittany Rizzi. Family requests memorials to Shriner's Children's Hospital or Missouri River Hospice.
