Robert C. Buehler

Robert C. Buehler, age 89, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Brightly Senior Living in Glen Carbon.  Bob was born on October 30, 1935, in Trenton, IL, the son of the late John A. & Cerelda H. (Zitzmann) Buehler. Bob married Esther (Meyerhoff) Buehler on June 28, 1958, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, MO.  Esther preceded Bob in death on April 27, 1996. Bob is survived by his four children, Shelly Braun & husband Tom, of Glen Carbon, IL, Robert Carl Buehler & wife Karen, of Lincoln, NE, Elizabeth Coyle & husband Patrick, of St. Charles, MO, and Laura Buehler, of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandchildren, Stuart Braun, of Edwardsville, IL, Nathan Braun, of Glen Carbon, IL, Brennan Buehler, of St. Charles, MO, Brittany Cacciottoli & husband Joe, of St. Charles, MO; Jeremy Haris, of Hazelwood, MO, Alexander Harris & wife Debra, of Colorado, Christian Held, of Colorado, and Rachel Held, of St. Louis, MO; five great grandchildren, Olivia Cacciottoli, Avery Cacciottoli, Emilia Cacciottoli, Natasha Kitchen, and Xander Harris.  Besides his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, John L. Buehler; and a sister, Carolyn Katchmar.  Bob was a history and government teacher who retired from the Ferguson/Florissant School District where he taught for more than 30 years, for the last nine years at McCluer High School.  Bob also served on the Village of Glen Carbon board of trustees for 24 years serving from 1983-1999 and again from 2005-2013.   Bob helped with many major improvements for the Village of Glen Carbon upgrades to infrastructure including water & sanitation lines, building of Village Hall, and expansion of the Glen Carbon Police Department.  Bob enjoyed reading, traveling, and anything about history.  He also enjoyed attending to his yard and gardening.   Bob was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Glen Carbon.   A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon with Rev. Donald Patrick Gibbons presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Trenton, IL.  The family suggests memorials to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois.  Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
