Richard M. Gusewelle

Richard M. Gusewelle, age 80, of Edwardsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born January 23, 1944, in Highland, Illinois, the son of the late Arthur W. & Vernita (Bangert) Gusewelle. Rich worked for Madison County Farm Service as a truck driver out of high school. He then went to work for Keller Construction in Edwardsville as a truck driver, retiring in October 2006. He married Donna K. Fields on May 9, 1964, at Eden UCC in Edwardsville, she preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2004. Rich later married Joyce E. (Fields) Lony on Dec. 17, 2005, at Eden UCC, and she survives. He is also survived by three sons, Mark Gusewelle, Clay Gusewelle & fiance Jody, and Mathew Gusewelle & wife Cheryl, all of Edwardsville; one daughter, Stephanie King & husband Stefan Paul of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren, Rob, Tim (Kristen), Courtney, Austin (Jamie), Miranda, & Logan Gusewelle, Joey King (Jade), Brandi Tinnon (Seth); and seven great grandchildren, Waylon, Sawyer, Maren, Ellie, Molly, Avery & Calix. He was also preceded by a brother, Ronald A. Gusewelle.  Rich was a member of St. Paul U.C.C. in Edwardsville, he served for 25 years as the Hamel Township Highway Commissioner, 36 years on the board at Southwestern Electric retiring in 2020, Hamel Township Trustee, Quercus Grove Cemetery Board & with the North East Central County Public Water District. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at St. Paul U.C.C. on Bluff Road in Edwardsville, with Rev. Dana Schindler officiating.  The burial will be in Quercus Grove Cemetery. The family requests memorial to SW Electric Scholarship Fund, Quercus Grove Cemetery Assoc. or Uni-Pres Kindercottage.
