Raymond Neil Adams, Jr., age 96, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at his residence. Neil was born in St. Joseph, MO, on November 30, 1929, the son of the late Raymond Neil & Beatrice “Marie” (Killdoo) Adams. Neil married Nancy "Nan" F. (Bollinger) Adams on January 27, 1978, in Edwardsville. Besides his wife of 47 years, Neil is survived by a daughter, Debra Kennedy, of Beaufort, MO; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Neil was preceded in death by a son, Neil “David” Adams; a brother, George Thomas Adams; and two sisters, Joan “Neva” Wasson, and Marie “Rose” Kent. Neil served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Neil worked as a chemical engineer for 35 years and retired in 1985 from Monsanto Company. After retirement Neil stayed pretty active and had many memberships to numerous clubs including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Alton VFW Post 1308, Southwest Illinois Chapter of the Wild Ones Native Plant Society, Native Plant Society of Illinois, and the Great Rivers Chapter, Illinois Audubon Society. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm also at the funeral home with Rev. John Wehrle presiding. A graveside service will be at 1:30 pm also on Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The family suggests memorials to Illinois Audubon Society or BJC Hospice.
