Nora L. Meyer

Nora L. Meyer, age 87, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at her residence in Edwardsville.  Nora was born on November 21, 1936, in Granite City, IL, the daughter of the late Raymond T. & Lenore (Lavelle) Langreder.  Nora married Sam Meyer on June 30, 1962, in Wood River, IL.  Besides her husband of 62 years, Nora is survived by her daughter, Beth Hillestad & her husband James, of Eureka, MO; and two grandchildren, Emily Hillestad, of Eureka, MO, and Nicholas Hillestad, of Eureka, MO.  Besides her parents, Nora was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Langreder.  Nora was a teacher for many years for Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7 at Columbus & Woodland Elementary Schools before her retirement in 1992.  After her retirement she was a substitute teacher at St. Boniface Catholic School where she was also a member. She was also a member of Philanthropic Educational Organization Edwardsville Chapter, Alpha Delta Kappa, Junior Service Club, and the Butterfly Group.  Nora was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling with her husband Sam all over the world, especially Hawaii.  A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.  A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Very Rev. Jeffery H. Goeckner presiding. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL.  Family suggests memorials to Catholic Charities of Alton or St. Boniface Building Fund.
