Mollie J. Fedor, age 66, of Godfrey, IL and formerly of Edwardsville, IL, died at her home on October 5, 2024, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by a house full of family, friends, and pets.
Mollie was born on February 25, 1958, in Litchfield, IL, to Betty (Kriege) Fedor and the late Eugene Fedor. She was preceded in death by her late Pop, Gene; an infant sister, Lydia; grandparents, Gilbert and Erna Kriege, of Edwardsville, IL, and Jack and Esther Fedor, of Mt. Olive, IL.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving mother, Betty L. Fedor, of Edwardsville, IL; her life long partner, Sally Ursch, of Godfrey, IL; two loved sisters, Ann Fedor, of Glen Carbon, IL, and Jean (Lori O’Bryan) Fedor, of Edwardsville, IL; and cousin, Mike (Darlene) Fedor. Mollie is also missed by her large extended family; sister-in-law, Karen Fitzgerald, six nephews, a favorite niece, and nine great nieces & nephews.
Graduating from SIUE in 1981, she began her long career at SIU as a student worker. She was the assistant director of continuing education. She retired after 30 years of service.
Prior to her retirement, Mollie completed a degree in Process Technology from LCCC. She nearly immediately accepted a position at Phillips 66 refinery. The job was physically demanding, long hours, and frequently awful weather. She loved it. She referred to her co-workers as “her boys” and she was certain the four-schedule team was the best. She retired again in February 2018.
At a very young age, Mollie’s mom instilled a love of reading and it never waned. She had an uncanny ability to remember nearly everything she read.
She also enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing. She loved yard work and visiting neighbors. She was never without a project.
Mollie did not suffer fools gladly, but she was dedicated and loyal to those she loved. Our sincere thanks to our families, friends, and wonderful neighbors for their love and support through some very difficult months.
A graveside service will be on May 24, 2025, at 11:00 am at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL, casual attire, she loved Illinois University. The family suggest memorials to the Riverbend Humane Society and would be appreciated. Farewell, Dear One we miss you. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
