Margaret A. Frey

Margaret A. Frey, age 87, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at her residence in Edwardsville.  Margaret was born on August 15, 1937, in Ft. Russell Township, IL, the daughter of the late William & Mary (Stahlhut) Strohmeier.  Margaret married Norman W. Schmitt on September 9, 1956.  Norman preceded Margaret in death on March 3, 1988.  Margaret then married Robert J. Frey on October 15, 1989.  Bob also preceded her in death on January 1, 2017.  Margaret is survived by her daughter, Pattie Stratmann, of Edwardsville, IL; two grandchildren, Vanessa White, of St. Peters, MO, and Kyle White, of Edwardsville, IL; six great grandchildren, Ethan Bailey-White, Collin Bailey-White, Isabelle Bailey-White, Payton White, Sawyer White, and Kylee White; and one great great grandchild, Hudson Bailey-Seay.  Besides her parents and husbands, Margaret was preceded by two children in infancy, eight siblings, and a son-in law, Stephen Stratmann. Margaret enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Hoedowners.  She was also a member of Eden Church and the Women’s Guild. She also helped with Meals on Wheels.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Roberts presiding. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery in Edwardsville.
