Louis Nishan Branz, age 78, of Edwardsville, IL, died July 7, 2003, Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.. Visitation 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesay, July 9th, at the funeral home. Funeral services at 10 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. Interment Calvary Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL. Mr. Branz worked as a printing pressman in the East St. Louis & Belleville, Il. area retiring in the 1970's. He was a member of the Graphic Comminications International Union. He was an early advocate of civil rights. He was a most passionate advocate of animals of all kinds. He supported the Metro East Humane Society, Adopt-A-Pet, and the ASPCA. He never saw a dog or cat that he didn't love. His care of feral neighborhood cats was legendary. Survivors include his wife Florentina Adele (Muniz) Branz of Edwardsville. A son Louis Raymond (Wife Marlen Zajac) Branz of Edwardsville. One brother David Joseph Branz of Fairview Heights, Il. Seven nieces; Ten Nephews & many great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 3 brothers-in-law, and several extended family members. Family suggests memorials to Metro East Humane Society, Adopt-A-Pet in Benld, Il., or a charity of donor's choice.
