Lonnie "Lon" Lee Scheibal

Lonnie “Lon” Lee Scheibal, age 85, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in Vero Beach. Lon was born on March 2, 1939, in Glen Carbon, IL, the son of the late Joseph & Louise (Schmidt) Scheibal. Lon married Tona Carter in 1966 and had 49 years of devoted marriage. Tona preceded Lon in death on August 16, 2015. Lon is survived by his two sons, Eric Glaser, of Thailand, and Sam Scheibal & his wife Melissa, of Deephaven, MN; two grandchildren, Niko Scheibal, and Noah Scheibal; a brother, Charles Scheibal, of Edwardsville, IL; and a sister, Beverly Jones, of Collinsville, IL. Besides his parents, Lon was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth D. "Cy" Scheibal. Lon was an avid golfer all his life and in his later years when you could not find him on the course or driving range providing swing tips to family, friends and an occasional stranger, you would certainly find him working up a sweat on the pickleball courts or doing “yard patrol”. The memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2024, at 4:30pm at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
