Lola Belle Griffey

Lola Belle Griffey, 88, formerly of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on December 19, 2025. 

Lola was born to Leroy and Lora (Swihart) Brasfield in Meadville, MO on October 14th, 1937

Lola was known and admired by many in Excelsior Springs, MO where she lived most of her adult life and raised her children. She enjoyed several hobbies and could be found on Saturday mornings laughing with her golf buddies, especially her dearest & most faithful friend Linda Irons.  She was fortunate to have traveled to many countries through the years, her all-time favorite being Africa.  Lola especially loved music, singing and dancing. Memories of her dancing with her brother, Leroy, on the dance floor warmed her family’s hearts.

Her greatest gift of all was that she was an amazing mother who devoted her life to ensuring her children knew how precious and loved they were to her. Her compassion, warmth, integrity and kindness made her a treasured mother and friend.  She was known for her stylish ways, her beauty and loving heart, open to everyone who was blessed to know her. 

Lola’s final resting place will be on her son’s property where she enjoyed watching all the animals, especially the horses on the vast and beautiful view from his western-style porch.

Lola is survived by her children, LuGene Faye Dilday (Bart), D. Craig Barnett (Sandy), Stephane Dees Paulk (Eddie), and Jewelya Griffey; her grandchildren, Candice, Chad, Joshua, Bricana, Elijah, and Adam; and 9 great grandchildren.
