Larry Lewis Garrison, age 75, of Collinsville, IL, passed away at his residence on Friday, March 28, 2025. Larry was born to Gilda Lunette (Arrington) Garrison and Harold Jr. Garrison in Boise, ID on June 20, 1949. He grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho, the oldest of six children. He attended high school at Twin Falls High School and graduated in 1967. After graduation he attended the College of Southern Idaho and was awarded a scholarship for his grades in electronics. He was very proud of that honor. During his high school years, he moved sprinkler pipes in the summer to pay for his car, gas, and electronic tinkering.
In 1969 he entered the United States Air Force and began his Air Force career in electronics maintenance on the radios in the F-4 fighter planes. He did a tour of duty in Thailand from 1970 -1971 and developed a relationship through letters with the love of his life Patricia Hall. When he returned from Thailand, he formally proposed marriage and was accepted. The two were married on October 29, 1971, in Okaloosa Island, Florida where he was stationed at Eglin AFB.
The following year their first child Michael was born. That same year Larry received orders for Spangdahlem AFB, Germany and was stationed there for eleven years. During that time six more children were born to this couple Alan, Andrew, Bethany, David, Tricia, and Larry Travis.
For most of his years in Germany, Larry worked in Maintenance Job Control and soon became the senior controller. This was to be the highlight of his Air Force career. He was acknowledged by his superiors as being highly efficient in his job and has many letters of commendation. In 1985 he was assigned to Patrick AFB. While stationed there the family increased again and two daughters were added to the family. Pamela, who was adopted, and Sarah who was born in 1985.
Larry retired from the Air Force in 1989 after serving for 20 years and a few months. He lived the remainder of his life as Retired Air Force.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Harold, his mother Gilda, sister Cindy and son Larry Travis. He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Michael (Leona), Alan, Andrew (Dina), Bethany, David (Leah), Tricia (Eric), Sarah (Jeremy), Pamela, and stepson Joshua. He is also survived by his sister Sheila Casper (Ken), brother Jay Garrison, Sister Leanna Berg (Robert), and Sister Christina Christensen (Rex). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
