Jean Katherine Walker, age 78, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones. Jean was born on August 18, 1947, in Old Mines, MO, the daughter of the late Russell & Virginia (Mercille) Osia. Jean married Daryl Walker on April 7, 1973, in Cahokia, IL. Besides her husband of 52 years, she is survived by her siblings, Terry Osia and wife Bonnie, of Columbia IL, Gail Barnett and husband Rickey, of Troy, IL: and a sister-in-law, Theresa Osia, of Pontoon Beach, IL; a brother-in-law, Fred Walker and wife Geri, of Des Moines, IA; and a sister-in-law, Diane Miller, of Johnson City, NY. Besides her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Daniel R. Walker on February 7, 2018; a brother, Dennis Osia; and a sister-in-law, Frances Smith. Jean was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto Illinois. Jean graciously donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. Jean was also very devoted to the Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. She prayed many hours with the Franciscan Sisters of the martyr, St. George in their convent chapel in Alton, IL. Jean was a favorite of the sisters, always giving so lovingly of her time. Jean was also very dedicated to the many dogs and cats that she cared for over many years and they loved her dearly. Jean was an employee of SIUE in Edwardsville, retiring in 2006 from the accounting department.
A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto, IL, on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 10:00 am with Fr. Tom Liebler presiding. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace church. Condolences may be shared online at weberfuneralhome.com.
