George "Greg" Gregory Stephen

George “Greg” Gregory Stephen, age 85, of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.  Greg was born on June 23, 1939, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late George G. & Teresa (MacInnis) Stephen.  Greg married Mary Boggan on August 21, 1965, in Cheektowaga, NY.  Besides his wife of 59 years, Greg is survived by his two sons, Robert G. Stephen & wife Victoria, of Burke VA, and John D. Stephen, of Edwardsville, IL; four grandchildren, Kyhl Stephen & wife Emily, of Ithaca NY, Ian  Stephen & wife Lexi, of Ashburn VA, Oliver Stephen, of Edwardsville, IL, and Madelyn Stephen, of Edwardsville, IL; and a sister, Mary E. Roda, of Middleburg Heights, OH. Greg was a Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where he started teaching in 1968.  A memorial service will be held at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church, St. Louis, at 10 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025, with a reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Francis Xavier (College) Church, c/o Social Ministry, 3628 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis MO 63108; American Heart Association; or American Parkinson Disease Association.  Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
