Gary B. Head

Gary B. Head, age 77, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Addington Place of Edwardsville.  Gary was born on February 7, 1947, the son of the late William W. Head, Jr. & Jewell (Finn) Bennette.  Gary married Christine E.  (Weber) Head on November, 29, 1969, in Carpenter, IL.  Gary is survived by his three children, Jason Head & wife Natalie, of Edwardsville, IL, Nicholas Head & wife Holly, of Edwardsville, IL, and Maggie Head, of Los Angeles, CA; and four grandchildren, Nathan Head & fiancée Rachel Gvillo, Dylan Head, Ella Head, & Miles Head, all of Edwardsville, IL.  In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby Head, Charles Head, Janet Gears, & Delores “Dee” Leidner.  Gary loved competition. He loved to play golf and as a younger man, basketball and baseball.  His true passion was coaching. He helped with several programs in the area over the years coaching both young men and women at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Edwardsville High School, as well as everyone he ever played a round of golf with.  A visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Carpenter, IL on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.  A funeral service will follow at the church at 12:00 pm with Pastor Heath R. Curtis presiding.  Interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Carpenter.  The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
