Elfriede L. Wechselberger

Elfriede “Elfie” L. Wechselberger, age 91, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on December 29, 2024, at her residence in Edwardsville. Elfie was born on May 15, 1933, Vienna, Austria, the daughter of the late Franz & Emma (Aue) Gotthart.  Elfie married Ernst E. Wechselberger on January 31, 1957. Ernst preceded Elfie in death on February 19, 2006. 
Elfie is survived by her son, Eric Wechselberger and wife Lynn of Powell, OH, daughter Eva Duncan and husband Greg of Edwardsville, IL; four grandchildren, Nicole Tabugadir and husband Mark of Denver, CO; Marcus Wechselberger and wife Mackenzie of West Allis, WI; Joey Duncan of Milan, TN and Danny Duncan of Edwardsville, IL; one great-grandchild, Murphy Wechselberger.  
Elfie was a talented seamstress, needle pointer and cross stitcher.  She was always working on a project.  She enjoyed playing cards and working German crossword puzzles.  Elfie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting friends in Tennessee.  
A celebration of life will be held in Tennessee at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Mary’s Capital Campaign fund.
