Donald Rodney Obituary

Donald Lee Rodney, age 78, of Marion, Illinois passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, at his home. Don retired as a maintenance worker for General Dynamics. He was born February 15, 1947, in Herrin, Illinois, the son of the late Robert R. & Elsie Mae (Huber) Rodney.
      He married Darlyn K. Guinn on July 16, 1965, in Herrin. Besides his wife Darlyn, he is survived by a daughter, Kelli (Chuck) Parino of Ziegler, a son, Ryan Rodney of Marion, a granddaughter, Kayla (Matthew) Niblett of Mulkeytown, 2 grandsons, Bowden Parino of Ziegler and Hunter Rodney of Johnston City, 2 Step-Grandsons, Roc (Brittany) Parino and James Parino of Mulkeytown and 2 Great Grandchildren, Kaiden & Myla Niblett. Don is also survived by a brother, Edward (Joan) Rodney of Edwardsville and a sister, Linda (Chad) Archa of Tyler, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews; sisters-in-law, Pat (Ron) May of Centralia and Liz (Gary) Issler of Herrin.
    Don was a 1965 graduate of Herrin High School. During his high school years, he worked at Sam’s Texaco in Herrin. He later worked in the coal mines and as a self-employed handyman “Perfectionist”. Don finished his career working for Olin’s later becoming Primex and General Dynamics. Don loved wood working and refurnishing furniture
    There will be no visitation. A private family service was held at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy. Arrangements are being handled by Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com
