Donald J. Nevins, age 60, of Edwardsville, IL, died May 27, 2003, St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. A private visitation and burial will be held. A memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 31st, at the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville, IL. Interment at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL. Mr. Nevins taught music in the Riverview Gardens School District for 15 years prior to moving to New York to sing opera. He studied voice from Lyndon Crews and was a soloist with the Long Island Symphony for 3 years before returning to St. Louis. He established his own business, Dinner Concerts, Inc. He taught choral music and was currently teaching orchestra in the Ft. Zumwalt School Dist., where he would have completed his 14th year. At age 13 he wrote choral arrangements for barbershop singing and at the age of 16 sang with a national championship quartet from Peoria. He directed the St. Charles Barber Shoppers and Riverview Adult Chorus. Donald is survived by his wife Suzanne (Shaw) Nevins. A son David of Edwardsville. Two daughters: Emilie Nevins of Edwardsville and Dionna (Daniel) Raedeke of St. Louis.Memorials may be directed too Edwardsville Arts Center or First Presbyterian Church
