Donald W. Kruckeberg, age 89, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, IL, at 11:45 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, surround by his family and friends. Don was born in Edwardsville, IL, on June 25, 1935, the son of the late William & Nora L. (Eberhart) Kruckeberg. On January 27, 1957, Don married Lois R. (Schmidt) Kruckeberg at Eden Church in Edwardsville, IL. After 63 years of marriage, Lois preceded Don in death on July 10, 2020. Don is survived by one daughter, Denise Reeder & husband Mark, of Edwardsville; two sons, Craig Kruckeberg & wife Ann, of Edwardsville, and Curt Kruckeberg & wife Carolyn, of Edwardsville; and four grandchildren, Bria Keffer & husband Chad, Marissa Dinnius & husband Casey, Nicholas Kruckeberg & wife Bayleigh, Kiley Reeder; 2 step-grandchildren, Josh Reeder & wife Annie, and Robbie Reeder; 4 great grandchildren; Beau & Ellie Dinnius, Crew Keffer, and Willow Kruckeberg; 4 step great grandchildren, Luciana Gihring, Kynleigh Gihring, Isaac Reeder, and Rayne Gihring; and a sister, Bernice R. Gerstenecker, of Glen Carbon, IL. Besides his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Lee Anderson and Myrna M. Strohmeier. Don worked as a union meat cutter from Local 88 at Kroger, Shop N Save and eventually retiring from D K Markets in Hamel, IL, after 45 plus years. Don also helped run the family farm for almost 20 years. In his later years Don also worked at Cassen & Sons for 10 years. Don was also a lifelong member of the Edwardsville Moose. Don was a man of few hobbies, but he enjoyed his family, dancing, and playing cards. Visitation will be on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 15 at Praise Community Fellowship 1000 University Dr, Edwardsville, IL 62025 with Pastor Kent Schuette presiding. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL. Memorials can be made to Eden Village Care Center or Praise Community Fellowship.
