Dena Brinkman Obituary

Dena M. Brinkman, 57, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 5, 1968, in Belleville, IL, Dena was the daughter of the late Ronald and Lora (Dozier) LaFore. She grew up with a generous heart, a quick wit, and a deep-rooted kindness that touched everyone she met.

On December 2, 1995, Dena married her best friend and the love of her life, Daniel V. Brinkman, in Las Vegas, NV. Together they shared 30 years of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.

Dena was a devoted mother to her two sons, Blake Brinkman (Tatum) of Edwardsville, IL, and Drew Brinkman of New Orleans, LA. She spoke with them every day, always eager to hear about their lives and offer her support. She was overjoyed to learn she would soon become a grandmother.  This was an adventure she was excited to begin. She is also survived by her brother, Kirk LaFore (Jennifer) of Smithton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lance LaFore.

A respected real estate professional, Dena had served the Metro-East community since 2002 and was currently with Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors in Edwardsville. Her clients and colleagues knew her not just for her expertise, but for her genuine care and willingness to help at any time.

Dena enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She loved sitting on a patio listening to live music and going to concerts, taking Jeep rides, and traveling to new places. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs, and she was rarely without one sitting on her lap. These simple pleasures brought her peace and happiness, especially when shared with the people she loved most.

What many didn’t know is that Dena had been quietly and courageously battling blood cancer for the past 16 years. She never complained, never let it define her, and never allowed it to dim her light. Her strength was quiet but fierce, and her determination to live fully and love deeply was an inspiration to all who knew her.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Partners for Pets, an organization close to Dena’s heart. Condolences may be shared online at weberfuneralhome.com.

Dena’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and compassion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
