D. Bridwell Obituary

D. Dean Bridwell, age 80, of Edwardsville, IL, died October 2, 2002, at MIssouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, October 7, 2002, at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. Burial was at Forever Valley View in Edwardsville, IL. Mr. Bridwell was Chief Court Clerk at the Madison County Courthouse for 15 year and was Edwardsville Tax Collector from 1959-73. He served 10 years on the board of the March of Dimes and also served as its chairman. He was a U.S Army veteran of WW II, serving in Company A Regiment 39th Combat Engineers. He received the Purple Heart when he was wounded Oct. 20, 1944 north of Rome, and fought in several noted campaigns. He was a member of Edwardsville American Legion Post 199, VFW Post 1299, and St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville. He is survived by his wife Betty (McIntosh) Bridwell; 1 brother, Col. James Bridwell; 2 sisters: Maxine Dawson and Kathryn Marshall; and 6 nephews and 7 nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
