Clyde V. Reiter, age 91, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. Clyde was born in Edwardsville, on February 25, 1933, the son of the late Charles & Nellie M (Koch) Reiter. Clyde married Marie E. Cathorall on February 17, 1973, in Bethalto, IL, and was married by the brother of the groom, Rev. Allen Reiter. Marie preceded Clyde in death on October 10, 2017, after 44 years of marriage. Clyde is survived by his brother, Rev. Allen Reiter & his wife Lynn, of Hamel, IL; sister in laws, Ann Reiter, of Ankeny, IA, Gertrude Cathorall, of Auroa, NC, Hallene Palmer, of Edwardsville, IL, Delores Jennings, of Aurora, NC; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and great great nieces & nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Clyde was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Eileen Reiter, Frances Neunaber, & Thelma Klueter; six brothers, Leroy, Leonard, Chester, Dale, Murl, & Rev. Kenneth Reiter; three sisters in law, Laverne, Rosalie & Esther Reiter, and three brothers in law, Edgar Wendel, Roy Neunaber, & Wilbur Klueter. Clyde was a veteran of the US Army serving as a medic in the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. He worked at Madison Store and at Imber’s Men’s Wear for a total of 50 years before his retirement in 1998. Clyde was an honorary member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, sponsoring member of the USO, and avid supporter of hospitalized and disabled veterans. He was a member of the American Legion Post 199, Edwardsville Moose Club 1561, and the Immanuel United Church of Christ-Hamel. A visitation will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, February 28, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at Immanuel United Church of Christ-Hamel. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am at the church with Rev. Paul Burden officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be given to Immanuel UCC, Disabled American Veterans, United Service Organizations (USO), or Wounded Warriors. Condolences may be expressed online at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home.
