Clara Penelton

Clara Penelton, age 90, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Edwardsville, IL, died October 8, 2003, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral services at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in Edwardsville, IL. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL. Mrs. Penelton was a retired cafeteria worker at SIU-Edwardsville. She was a member of Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church in Edwardsville, where she served on the Usher Board, the Missionary Society, and was a trustee helper until her health began to fail. She is survived by 2 sons: George Melvin (Corrine) Penelton and Ronald E. Penelton; 3 daughters: loria M. Taylor, Carrie Otam and Karen Penelton; 1 sister, Irma Rice; a granddaughter-in-law, Kimberly Penelton; a sister-in-law, Freda Lewis; 9 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
