Chester Michel

Chester H. Michel, age 86, of Edwardsville, IL, died October 27, 2002, at his home in Edwardsville, IL. Visitation was 4 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, October 29th, at the funeral home. Funeral services at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 20th, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, IL. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL. Chester graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1934. He spent the next 12 years in Chicago working for Sears, Switzer, and Conrad. He returned to Edwardsville in 1945 and opened Michel's Tire & Battery with his brother, Paul, retiring in 1978. His memberships include: St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Edwardsville Fire Company #1, in which he was an active volunteer for 42 years and held the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer; the Madison County Firman's Association with the offices of Assistant Secretary and Treasurer; the Edwardsville Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th degree, and the Edwardsville Moose Lodge #1561. Chester was preceded by his wife Cecilia B. (Nieznanski) Michel. Survivors include three sons: James Michel, William Michel, & Richard (Wife Stephanie) Michel. Two daughters: Elizabeth (Husband Richard) Patton and Pamela (Husband William) Fuller. Thirteen Grandchildren. Six Great Grandchildren. A half-sister Annadel (Husband John) Labanc.
