Charles “Chuck” W. Schroeder

Charles “Chuck” W. Schroeder, age 92 of Edwardsville, IL, passed away peacefully on May 23rd, 2025. Charles was born on October 19, 1932, in Edwardsville, IL, the son of the late Charles J. and Charlotte E. (Ebelage) Schroeder. Chuck is survived by his two sons, Christopher C. & Nancy A. Schroeder, of Edwardsville, IL, and Timothy E. Schroeder and Megan Schroeder, of El-Cajon, CA; three grandchildren, Stephen C. Schroeder & his wife Julia, of the Washington D.C area, Clare E. Miller & her husband Caleb, of Edwardsville, IL, and Sarah M. Schroeder and fiancé, Daniel Picchiotti, of West Des Moines, IA; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Schroeder, of Godfrey, IL. Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by a brother, Roger E. Schroeder. Chuck was a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1958. Chuck went on to become the Vice President of Florist Mutual Insurance Company and eventually worked in real estate and appraisal until retiring. He was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. Chuck was a member of Eden Church of Edwardsville and had served as a church council president and was integral in the formation of Eden Care Center. He was active in several community organizations serving on the Eden Village Board of Directors, Past President of Edwardsville Kiwanis and of the SW Illinois Easter Seal Society, and a member of American Legion Post #199. He joked that his goal was to outlive all the S.O.B’s he didn’t care for…as such, he had a long and fulfilling life, we never actually saw a list. A committal service will be held on July 12th, 2025, at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel in Edwardsville at 10:00 a.m. Family and Friends are invited. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Missouri Veterans Endeavor (move-stl.org) or Eden Church of Edwardsville. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
