Cecil V. Carver, Sr., age 81, of Edwardsville, IL, died June 3, 2003, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. Visitation 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Weber Funeral Home Funeral. Memorial services at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 7th, at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville, IL. According to his wishes his body was cremated. Mr. Carver was self-employed his entire career. His businesses included Home Improvement, Groceries, and a Restaurant and Bar. He also founded Family Life Insurance Co. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with memberships in Springfield, Il and Windfield, Mo. He was a veteran of WWII, serving the the Army Air Corps.Survivors include a son: C. Vernon (Sandra Dods) Carver of Edwardsville. One daughter: Sherry (Pete) Elder of Clarksville, Ga. Six grandchildren. Two great grand. He is also survived by the mother of his children. One brother: Melvin Carter of Gillette, Wyoming. A sister Rosella Koban of Vandalia, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Mae, 3 brothers Jack, Ed, & Virgil Carver, and a sister Floy "Peg" Hagen. Family requests memorials to Shriner's Hospital for crippled children.
