Brian Meyer suffered a fatal heart attack on August 1, 2025, at his Edwardsville residence and passed away in route to Anderson Hospital. He was 61.
Meyer was born in Troy, OH, on August 30, 1963, and relocated to Edwardsville with his surviving parents, Joe and Shirley (Arnett) Meyer, when his father was named sports editor of the Edwardsville Intelligencer in 1964.
Also surviving are his wife Sarah (Talbert), brothers Blake (Michelle), of Godfrey, IL, Kevin (Regina), of Lacassas, TN, and Joseph Brett, of Moscow Mills, MO. And many other family relatives residing in the metro St. Louis area, and as well as Tennessee, Missouri, and Ohio.
Brian and Sarah were married in St. Louis and would have celebrated their 33rd anniversary in November.
He graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1981. It was during his years in high school that soccer was added to the sports program and he would play on the first jayvee team.
Following high school he attended Monmouth (IL) College one year before enlisting in the Marine Corps with his brother, Blake. Both spent their entire tour of duty at Camp Pendleton, CA.
His respect for the Corps was such that he donated a set of his dog tags to the National Marine Corps Museum, located in Virgina.
Brian spent much of his adult life as an over the road truck driver for Southern Products Co., based in west St. Louis County. His delivery territory was located in northeastern Indiana and northwestern Ohio.
Having no children, Brian and Sarah developed a deep love for dogs and over the years that affection became divided between their own and foster dogs.
His cremated remains will be laid to rest at a time and place still to be determined.
