Bill Gvillo Obituary

Wilfred "Bill" Gvillo, age 74, of Edwardsville, IL, died December 23, 2002, St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Visitation was from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, December 27th, at Weber Funeral Home. Funeral services at 10 AM on Saturday, December 28th, at Eden United Church of Christ in Edwardsville, IL. Burial was at St. James Cemetery in Ft. Russell Twp., IL. Mr. Gvillo was a farmer in the Edwardsville area for over 40 years and he also sold real estate for Landmark Realty for many years. He was a member of Eden United Church of Christ. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, served on the Ft. Russell Twp Board, First Fedearl Savings & Loan director for over 30 years. He served on and was President of Eden Church Council, Church Sunday school teacher, Past President & Vice President of Eden Men's Brotherhood, Served several terms on the O of I Agricultural Comnmittee through Extension programs. Member of the Farm Bureau where he served on many committees and received the Member Loyalty Award in 1992. Member of the SIU-E International Hospitality Program for over 30 yers during which time he befriended several hundred students. He also served as Co-President of this organization. Member of Ameican Legion Post 199 and International Union of Operating Engineers. Survivors include his wife Doris Mary (Branding) Gvillo, two daughters: Ruth Ellen (Husband Dan) Joachimsthaler and Lois Ann (Husband Robert) Means. Four Grandchildren: Brian & Adam Joachimsthaler, Aaron & Kathryn Means. Two brothers: Richard (Wife Pat) Gvillo and Eugene (Wife Shirley) Gvillo. Two Half-brothers: Curtis (Wife Regina) Gvillo and Alvin Gvillo. Two Half-sisters: Carol (Husband Kenneth) Torman and Gaye (Husband Larry) Tener.
