Shawn R. Jarrett, age 68, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at his residence while being surrounded by family and friends. He was born on October 30, 1953, in Saint Louis, Missouri, and was the son of the late Robert W. and Norma Jeanne (Harris) Jarrett. Shawn was never a man to sit idle. He had worked at Granite City Steel, Storage USA in St. Louis, and as a bus driver for Madison County Transit. He is survived by his wife Jeannine (DeNeef) Jarrett of 20 years and his much beloved daughter Corryn. He also leaves behind two brothers, Robert L. Jarrett of Edwardsville, Richard T. Jarrett (spouse Donna) of St. Louis, and his sister Jamie Akin (spouse Michael) of Costa Rica. Shawn was a member of the Edwardsville Masonic Lodge #99 for many years. He was a big Cardinal fan, but an even bigger fan of any sport or activity Corryn engaged in. Shawn will always be remembered for the courage and humor he showed in his final years, but above all for being a loving husband and a doting father. His unflinching determination to care for his family never left him and he fought bravely to provide for their every need. He will be cremated according to his wishes and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials be sent to BJC Hospice or Children’s Hospital.
