Roger C. Weber Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Roger C. Weber, age 85, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 4:08 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at his residence. Roger was born on April 1, 1937, in Hammond, IN, the son of the late Rudolph F. & Frances H. (Stelow) Weber. Roger married Sarah “Sally” A. (Douglas) Weber on January 28, 1961, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. Besides his wife of 61 years, Roger is survived by a daughter, Karen Hannon & husband James, of Frankfort, IL; two sons, Kent Weber & wife Shannon, of Edwardsville, IL, and Scott Weber & wife Betty, of Edwardsville, IL; seven grandchildren, Patrick Hannon & wife Grace, of Lexington, Ky, Kate Young & husband Nick, of Austin, TX, Emily McKenna & husband Kevin, of New Lennox, IL, Cale Weber, of Edwardsville, IL, Nolan Weber, of Edwardsville, IL, Jade Weber, of Edwardsville, IL and Quinn Weber, of Edwardsville, IL; one great grandchild, Nora McKenna, of New Lennox, IL; and a sister Kathleen St. John, of Troy, IL. Roger was a 1955 graduate of Edwardsville High School. He attended Washington University and Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla where he obtained a degree in civil engineering. After graduation, Roger was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant serving in the US Air Force in 1961. In 1965, Roger took a job with the Austin Company as structural engineer in Cleveland, OH. The following year in 1966, he took a civil engineering job with the Military Airlift Command at Scott Air Force Base. After almost 30 years of working with for the Air Force, Roger retired from the Air Force and became a project manager for Sverdrup Corporation helping construct Mid America Airport. Roger was a past president of the Edwardsville Jaycees and a Junior Chamber International Senator. He also volunteered for many events in the community for the City of Edwardsville, Grandview Subdivision, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Roger also had numerous hobbies, including Stamp Collecting, Photography, and was an avid model ship builder. He also enjoyed playing golf with his Wednesday Golf Group and playing poker with his high school buddies. A memorial visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Friday, August 5, 2022. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert J. Jallas presiding. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL. In lieu of flowers, family request memorials to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
