Pamela Jo Clarkin

September 29, 1951 - December 13, 2021

Pamela Jo Clarkin, nee Fellhauer, of Edwardsville, died December 13, 2021. Born September 29, 1951, Pam was the oldest of six children of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Ludwig) Fellhauer. After living briefly in rural Troy, Pam's parents moved to Edwardsville's Northside where she attended Lincoln Elementary School, graduating from Edwardsville High School in 1969 and from SIU Edwardsville in 1983. Pam married her husband Michael Clarkin in 1971, and they raised their sons in Edwardsville, remaining together until Mike's death in 2000. Pam is survived by her sons, Thomas of Belleville and his dog Richard, David and wife Rebecca of Park Ridge, and Pam's cherished grandchildren, William and Caroline. Pam will be forever missed by her five younger siblings: David (Becky) Fellhauer, Pat (Armand) Boudreau, Penny (Tom) May, Dale Fellhauer, Dennis (Brian) Fellhauer, and her sister-in-law Chris (Barry) Steele; her nieces and nephews: Tracy, Randy, Armand J, Kelly, Trisha, Patrick, Kimberly, and Matthew; beloved cousins across the country and their familes. Pam's entire family is joined in their loss by many special friends, including her best friend for over 50 years, Cheri Drescher. In addition to her parents and husband, Pam was preceded in death by her beloved dog Burke and grandpuppy Harold. Pam was well-known throughout Edwardsville as the 15-year partner of We Can Do This decorating company with her longtime friend Kathy Lohr, and for her extensive community service and charitable work. Pam was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Edwardsville and the United Methodist Women, most recently serving as president of the UMW. She was active in the Glen Carbon American Legion Post 435 Auxiliary and Edwardsville American Legion Post 199, volunteering for fish frys, working golf nights as the beer cart girl, and leading weekly euchre tournaments. Pam was also an active member of the Democratic Party, supporting candidates and serving as an election judge across four decades. Pam was renowned for her kindness, as well as her joy, wit, nurturing, intellect, fairness, honesty, and her faith in both God and humankind's better nature. She shared her passions with family and friends as an avid reader, traveller, card player, antiquer, puzzler, board gamer, animal lover, and concert and theatre-goer. Despite claiming to have no culinary skill whatsoever, her baked goods, cookies, candies, and fudge were widely enjoyed by family, friends, and her church's bake sales. A loving mother and grandmother, nothing filled her with more joy and pride than the happiness of her children and grandchildren, who will forever miss her, as will her siblings, to whom she will always be "Queen of the Universe," and myriad family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Edwardsville. or online at https://youtu.be/8FCJsrwITcY. Due to Covid the family requests the masks be worn. In honor of her philanthropic interests, her family requests donations to: Alton Little Theatre, World Wildlife Fund, or Heifer International.
