Nettie Bell Werner

Nettie Bell Werner, age 104 of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021, surrounded by loved ones in her home. She was born September 14, 1917, in Gibson, Missouri, the third daughter of the late William David & Nellie Elizabeth (Dixon) Graham. She grew up in Madison, Illinois, where she met and married Theodore Alfred Werner in 1936. During WWII Nettie worked at the steel mill as a welder on tanks. After WWII she and Ted moved to Edwardsville. Nettie is survived by her Daughter In-law Nyla Werner, ten grandchildren, Gary Werner & wife Sirion, Greg Herron & wife Christi, Monica Brincat & husband Robert, Todd Werner, Jon Werner & wife Laure, Kurt Connelly & wife Janet, Cheryl Gonzales & husband Jesus, Robin Prater, Amy Pfeilschifter & husband Eric, Mary Beth Werner & husband Matthew Mochel; 19 great grandchildren; & ten great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore; son, Teddy Werner; daughter, Lynette Connelly; two sisters, Etna Smith, Lena Graham; & her brother William Graham. Nettie was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Edwardsville. She loved bird watching, gardening, painting, traveling, and trivia. Her body was donated to the Washington University School of Medicine according to her wishes. A memorial visitation will be held from 3p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at St. Johns United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. at the church, with Rev. Grant Armstrong officiating. Memorials can be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
