Joseph Lee Ladd

Joseph Lee Ladd, age 81, of New Richmond, OH, formerly of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 11:10 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his residence. Lee was born April 28, 1941, in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Joseph & Bernice (Schmollinger) Ladd. Lee married Leatha “Kay” Webb on July 23, 1966, in Mt. Vernon, IL. Leatha preceded Lee in death on December 28, 2021. Lee is survived by a daughter, Keri Rickenbaugh & husband Robert, of Cincinnati, OH; and three grandchildren, Elisabeth, Brady, and Jacob. Lee was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Lee was also a member of the National Rifle Association and a skeet/trap enthusiast. Another passion was boating which included membership in the United States Power Squadron. After retirement, Lee and Kay set sail for their biggest adventure: The Great Loop. With their 42-foot boat, the “DBL-ELL,” as their home for two years, they traveled The Great Loop, a continuous waterway, including part of the Atlantic, Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, Canadian Heritage Canals, and the inland rivers of America's heartland. After this adventure they became known as “loopers”. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 10:45 am at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery.
